There are many ways we could use your help...
Donations
One of the main aims of RAA is to fund essential spay/neuter programs in Romania either direct or via collaborations with other reputable charities. Every £100 ensures that at least 5 dogs/cats are spayed which in turn prevents hundreds of offspring born to the same fate. If you can donate even a small amount, please visit our 'Donations Page'.
Collars/Leads/Food/Blankets/Toy Donations
We have regular transport from/to Romania that can deliver any donated supplies. Drop-off points in the UK are in Cambs, Herts and Kent. Some vets will donate sample packs of food or food close to it's sell by date. Some Sainsbury's stores will allow a 'pet food bin' to be set up outside where generous shoppers can donate food. Generally this is down to the discretion of the store manager. If you think your local store may be willing to help, please let us know and we will arrange for the bin to be delivered. We are also desperate for volunteer help to make dog jackets to keep the shorter haired dogs and puppies warm during the sometimes harsh Romanian Winters. We can supply the pattern and all you need is a sewing machine and donated or cheap fabric (usually available in your local charity shop).
Volunteers
If you have any spare time, contacts and/or creative skills, there are so many ways to get involved. Writing a letter to your local newspaper/magazine about the charity or putting a poster up in places such as veterinary clinics raises valuable awareness and is a great way to bring in new supporters and potential adoptees. Fundraising through quiz nights, dogs shows, selling on Ebay can bring in extra funds too!
Fosterers. We are always happy to hear from good, reliable short-term fosterers for our dogs. People to give them a week or so to settle in and adjust to a home environment in preparation for their new forever home! Fosterers must be at home most of the day and ideally have experience of rescue dogs. Expenses such as food etc. can be paid.
Transport. At times we may need help with transport for the dogs as they arrive in the UK (at either Dover or Folkestone). Expenses for fuel can be covered by the charity.
Visiting Romania. Anyone wishing to visit Romania to stay for up to a week and volunteer at the ROLDA shelter can do so and stay as a guest of Dana in a self-contained cottage within the grounds of the smaller shelter in Galati. This would give you the chance to see the work being done up-close by the ROLDA team plus also help with the animals and the day-to-day rescue and spay/neuter program. Romania is a beautiful country with spectacular scenery and only a short flight from the UK. It's a magical place despite the street dog problem and provides an opportunity to get really involved. A real trip of a lifetime for any animal lover. Volunteer vets especially welcome!
